Fitzsimmons & Friedo

Ian Fitzsimmons was born in Folsom, Louisiana on Tautog Farm where his mother raised, bred, raced, and lost money in thoroughbred horses. Ian was mucking stalls at the early age of 3. After being shipped off to Georgetown Prep outside of Washington D.C, Ian moved on to attend the University of Alabama to study coeds, football, barbeque and cold beer. Despite his expertise in each of these fields, he managed to stick around for six-and-a-half years.

Ian married the former Katherine Garrett of Dallas, Texas and they have two daughters Rowan and Maren. Ian has three brothers including Brendan, who is a stockbroker, and younger brothers, Cavan and Devin, who both played college football in the Patriot League.
Ian’s first radio gig was “comin’ to ya live” from a trailer in the middle of a cow pasture in Northport, Alabama on WSPZ. He then went big time and was a producer for GameNight on ESPN Radio in Bristol - back in the day of Chuck Wilson and Tony Bruno. He then hosted “The Cheap Seats” on WJOX 690 in Birmingham before becoming co-host of “Herbstreit and Fitzsimmons” with Kirk Herbstreit of ESPN College GameDay. Other stops include Salt Lake City and right here at home with 103.3 FM ESPN in Dallas.

Mark “Friedo” Friedman joined ESPN 103.3 FM in January, 2009. After being a long-time Norm Hitzges sidekick and assistant program director, Friedo took on a similar role here at ESPN Dallas as APD and producer for The Michael Irvin Show.

Friedo got his start in local radio at 570 AM producing a 1994 Fantasy Football Show. He has since become one of the most recognized personalities in the DFW market. Friedo is an avid sports fan, like most of our listeners, who brings a no-nonsense approach to the airwaves.

He grew up in Richardson and has lived in the area his entire life. Through his experiences in the market, he has established himself as a unique personality that listeners not only appreciate, but most importantly trust.
