49ers ink CB Hall to aid banged-up secondary

The San Francisco 49ers, who have been hit with a rash of injuries in their secondary, signed veteran cornerback Leon Hall to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.Hall, 32, played with the New York Giants last season after spending nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.He played in 12 games for the Giants in 2016, and made two starts while collecting one interception.Hall has appeared in 121 NFL games, including 105 starts, during his career and has 26 interceptions.Hall also made four postseason starts for the Bengals, and he returned one interception for a touchdown.The 49ers also placed cornerback Asa Jackson, who injured a hamstring in Sunday’s overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts, on the Injured Reserve list.Starting 49ers cornerback Rashard Robinson was bothered by cramps in that game, and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon suffered a concussion.
