The San Francisco 49ers released linebacker Terence Garvin and promoted defensive back Tyvis Powell to the 53-man roster, the team announced on Saturday.Garvin saw action in one game this season for San Francisco. The 27-year-old has played 75 games (four starts) in six NFL seasons, including stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2013-15), Washington Redskins (2016) and Seattle Seahawks (2017).Powell, 24, played in three games for San Francisco last season and has three defensive tackles and two special teams’ stops. He also played in eight games for the Seahawks in 2016.Powell was in training camp with the 49ers this summer before being released on Sept. 1. He was subsequently signed to the practice squad.
