Agent: Ginobili intends to re-sign with Spurs, but …

Manu Ginobili announced via his personal website Sunday morning that he intends to play one more NBA season before hanging it up. Conspicuously absent from his blog post was a mention of returning specifically to the Spurs.Ginobili, who turns 39 on July 28, became an unrestricted free agent last month when he declined to exercise a $2.9 million option for next season.Herb Rudoy, Ginobili’s longtime agent, said Sunday that while Ginobili fully intends to finish his career in San Antonio, first the two sides will have to negotiate contract amenable to him.”Obviously, his first choice is to come back to the Spurs if we can put together a good deal,” Rudoy said. “If you look around the league, there is a lot of money going around for lesser players than Manu. Manu is very aware of what the market looks like, and the Spurs are very aware.”NBA salaries have exploded with this summer’s salary cap rise, with teams handing out nearly $2 billion in deals over the first two full days of free agency.
