Angels reinstate INF Fletcher, option LHP Quijada

The Los Angeles Angels reinstated infielder David Fletcher from the 10-day injured list and sent left-hander Jose Quijada back to the team’s alternate training site.Fletcher rolled his left ankle at first base during an Aug. 30 game against the Oakland Athletics. The scrappy infielder has batted over .300 for much of the season and has a .313 batting average with a .377 on-base percentage in 35 games.A well-rounded defender, Fletcher has played three infield positions this season, as well as right field. He was the mainstay at shortstop while Andrelton Simmons was on the injured list with his own ankle sprain.Fletcher, 26, is a career .289 hitter with 10 home runs and 87 RBIs in 269 games with the Angels. He played his first full season in 2019.Quijada, 24, is 0-1 this season in six games with a 7.36 ERA. He is 2-4 lifetime with a 5.94 ERA after pitching in 34 games with the Miami Marlins last season.
